2017 AAIA CONTEMPORARY CREATIVE RESIDENCY
Applications Close 1 May 2017
The AAIA Contemporary Creative Residency (CCR) programme was initiated in 2014. It is open to professional Australian artists and writers (emerging and established) working in literary or visual media who maintain a strong interest in ancient, mediaeval, modern and/or contemporary Greek culture and who wish to spend a month working and researching in Athens.
The award offers accommodation in the AAIA Hostel, a spacious 3-bedroom apartment located at the foot of the Acropolis, for the month of December as well as access to libraries, museums and archaeological sites.
Each December the entire Hostel becomes a place of creative contemplation, cultural exploration and artistic activity, thus promoting Hellenic studies as per the core objective of the AAIA. In 2016 the Hostel was home to three artists; in 2017 we hope to welcome two artists.
It is intended that by directly engaging with and supporting creative practitioners the aims of the AAIA can be innovatively interpreted for our members and the wider community, both within Australia and Greece, and reach a broader audience.
