CHD Greece Trip.
Canberra Hellenic Dancers 2024 Greece Trip
On the initiative of the Hellenic Club of Canberra and with the support of the General Secretariat of Expatriate Greekism & Public Diplomacy, the children, many of whom are coming to Greece for the first time, had the opportunity to visit important sites of historical & archaeological interest in Mycenas, the Epidaurus, Nafplio and Chania.
First and foremost, we made it to the top of the Acropolis and visited the beautiful The Acropolis Museum. We learnt about traditional Greek costumes and finished the day off dancing with Antonis Remos.
Day 1.
Our first dancing workshop in Athens! After a full day of dancing we cooled off in the Aegean oceans enjoying the sunshine and fresh European air. We also had the pleasure of meeting Γιαννης Χρυσουλακης, the Secretary General for Greeks abroad and public diplomacy.
Day 2.
The dancing continues in Athens with a pit stop for loukoumades.
Day 3.
Dance, Dance and more Dance!
Day 4.
Travelling between Corinth Canal, Epidauros, Mycenae, and Nafplio.
Day 5.
Goodbye Athens, and hello Crete!
An early start with a visit at the Tomb of Venizelos and Prophiti Ilias and straight off to dance practice.
Day 6.
Visited the Church of Virgin Mary for Sunday service, then off to more dance practice, followed by a beautiful lake walk and an evening exploration of Chania Old Town
Day 7.
The final rehearsal and unwinding at the breathtaking Elafonissi Beach before our big day!
Day 8.
We then performed in the city of Chania, Greece!! What a way to finish off our first ever international trip. We are all so grateful for this opportunity, these memories will last a lifetime.
We met with the Deputy Mayor Νεκτάριος Ψαρουδάκης of the Dept of Tourism and the Mayor of Chania Παναγιώτης Σημανδηράκης. Also a big thank you to Iosif Viglakis for organising us to perform in Strata 2024. Thank you all for this amazing experience which will remain in our hearts forever.
